It is named as bhumi amla because. its height is not so away from bhumi or earth. It mostly grow up in rainy season and get dry immediately after the rainy season is over.  Owing to the bearing of a  number of fruits at a time , the plant is also called as bahuphala because it comes with full of fruits in rainy season botanically known as Phylanthus niruri, bhumi amla is bitter , sweet and astringent in taste. It is light and rough in effect. Its potency is cold and its whole plant is used for medicinal purpose.
